01 · THE DIFFERENCE
A collage grid distributes.
A composition prioritizes.
A fixed collage template usually tells every photograph where it belongs before the photographs arrive. Construct begins with visual weight instead. One image can dominate, another can interrupt, and an empty region can create the pause that makes the other images legible.
Equal size is not neutral.
Giving every image the same area says they matter equally. An asymmetrical structure makes that decision visible.

Four decisions

- Choose which photograph receives the most area and attention.
- Counterweight
- Use a smaller image or color field to stop the composition from collapsing toward one side.
- Negative space
- Leave a region intentionally empty when the images need separation.
- Edge relation
- Align edges selectively so asymmetry still feels constructed rather than accidental.

Can I make a collage without a fixed template?
Yes. Construct lets you create or apply the regions first, then place images inside that structure.
Can I use my own images?
Yes. Image regions can use your uploaded photographs and keep their individual crops or focal emphasis.
Can I change the geometry after adding images?
Yes. The composition remains a Construct document rather than a flattened collage image.
Is this the same as a photo-grid maker?
No. A grid can be used, but asymmetrical and proportional structures are equally central.
